Gulpilil House
The house for the indigenous actor David Gulpilil was influenced by the humpy he had been living in - in essence, a shade structure, with a low corrugated iron roof supported on found tree limbs, with a raised area for insect netted sleeping and surveillance. The project began by considering the precise requirements of David's extended family, in what is an extremely remote location in north-east Arnhem land. It was also designed to be potentially mass-produced with ambitions of it becoming a model. The project is yet unrealised.
